About Us

Dr. Rajiv “Raj” Verma is a board-certified sports medicine physician specializing in the care of active people and athletes, treating both adult and youth patients. 

Dr. Verma’s practice focuses on evidence-based minimally invasive solutions for chronic tendon problems and osteoarthritis, along with the sport-specific care of youth and adult athletes. His practice philosophy centers on the belief that the best medicine happens at the intersection of patient goals, physician expertise, and application of the best available research. 

In addition to his duties as a physician, Dr. Verma currently serves as the Associate Program Director for the University of Chicago / Endeavor Health Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship. His duties include design, implementation, and oversight of the diagnostic and procedural sports ultrasound curriculum. He also facilitates didactic learning on sports medicine topics and teaches fellows and residents in clinic.

Originally from northern Iowa, Dr. Verma completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Iowa and went on to complete medical school at the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine. He then completed residency at Loyola University – MacNeal Family Medicine where he served as a physician for Morton High School athletics and also provided coverage for the Bank of America Chicago Marathon and numerous other sporting events throughout the Chicagoland area. 

Dr. Verma went on to complete sports medicine fellowship training at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. During his time at Emory, Dr. Verma served as a team physician for Georgia Tech, working primarily with the football and men’s basketball teams.  He also provided medical services for the Atlanta Falcons and was a physician for the Atlanta Legends of the former Alliance of American Football. 

While in fellowship, Dr. Verma received extensive training in diagnostic and procedural musculoskeletal ultrasound which led him to earning certification in musculoskeletal ultrasound (RMSK) via the Alliance for Physician Certification and Advancement. 

Dr. Verma is also an active researcher in the youth sports realm. He is an author in ongoing multi-center research studies which received funding support from the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine (AMSSM) to evaluate health-related quality of life outcomes in young athletes after different types of injury. 

Dr. Verma previously served as head physician for Trinity International University athletics and as event physician for the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) 2021 Chicago Tennis Festival 125, 250, and 500 events along with the 2023 WTA Chicago Women’s Open 125 event.  

Outside of work, Dr. Verma can be found spending time with his wife and son, doing Peloton workouts, and watching YouTube videos of food from different countries.
