Patient Success Story: Tenex Procedure for Hip Gluteal Tendinitis

Tenex (ultrasound-guided percutaneous needle tenotomy with vacuum debridement) is a minimally invasive procedure for the treatment of chronic tendon problems such as tendinitis and some partial tears. Tenex is an alternative to more invasive surgery and may be suitable for patients with persistent ongoing pain or recurrent symptoms not responsive to conservative treatment such as physical therapy or home exercises.

Multiple applications exist, including the treatment of tendon problems such as:

  • Elbow tendinitis (tennis elbow, golfer’s elbow)

  • Rotator cuff tendinitis or calcific tendonitis

  • Hip (gluteal) tendonitis

  • Patellar tendonitis

  • Achilles tendonitis

  • Plantar fasciitis

An earlier blog post detailed the evidence behind the the use of Tenex for the treatment of hip (gluteal) tendonitis.

Endeavor Health (formerly known as NorthShore University HealthSystem) recently detailed the success story of one of Dr. Verma’s patients who underwent the Tenex procedure for hip (gluteal) tendinitis in its HealthyEndeavors blog post.
